In October 2025, all UD-managed computers with outdated versions of Microsoft Office will be upgraded to Office 2021.
To make this transition as smooth as possible, we encourage you to self-upgrade through the Portal Manager at any time between Monday, September 29 and Monday, October 13, 2025. Beginning Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Office 2021 will be automatically installed on any remaining computers that have not yet been updated. If you are already running Office 2021 or a later version, no action is needed.
Checking Your Current Version of Office
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Click File in the top left corner.
- Click Account (depending on your version, this may be at the bottom or middle of the menu).

- Under Product Information, you’ll see the version of Office you are running (e.g. Office 2019):

Self-Upgrading with the Portal Manager (Windows)
- Open the Portal Manager. Go to the Windows search bar and type Portal. The Portal Manager App appears in the Best Match section of the search results. Click on the Portal Manager link.
NOTE: If you can't find the Portal Manager on your computer, contact the IT Service Center for assistance.
- Look for Microsoft Office 2021 x64 and select Install.

- A download bar displays the installation progress and lets you know when it's done. Once the install is complete, check your version of office and verify that you have Office 2021:
